D-Day - Daycare!

Our little man on his first day of daycare!

Well, it was inevitable...daycare! I knew this day would be coming, but we were so spoiled with my parents watching Brady that I had shoved far, far away in my head.  This Tuesday was Brady's first day, and he did great!  Sadly mom was a hot mess. Needing the additional support I coaxed Brett into meeting us there for the big day (it is one block from his office). After showing up I realized we did everything the wrong way. Once we got everything put in order it was time to leave my baby boy behind. So what's a mom to do? Stall! Think of any and every question under the sun to stay with your baby just a little longer...that is until till your husband gently coaxes you out of the room and into the hallway where you officially breakdown. A quick coffee date to collect myself and I was off to work.  It's amazing what the power of a cappuccino can do. Today was day two of daycare and I'm happy to say it went much smoother. No waterworks, but it still took me 30 minutes to leave Brady behind...

Things I learned from Brady's First Day:
  • The night before I spent all kinds of time labeling his milk, two bottles and three storage containers for refills. Day of daycare I find out they have their very own labels I need to fill out (every day, as they are date specific) AND that we can only bring the milk in bottles in order to keep the nipple sterile from feeding to feeding - whoops!
  • The night before I packed a perfectly put together diaper bag with everything folded in an easily found place. Day of daycare I find out there is a bin for his diapers and wipes, and bin for his extra clothing and bibs, and a separate area for the bottles to be refrigerated - so basically forget the bag.
  • The night before I packed his favorite toys, his blanket so he had something that smelled like home and his sleep sheep giraffe. Day of daycare I find out what we needed was a sleep sack and they have plenty of toys there that are way more entertaining than the everyday stuff we have at home.
  • I also was naive enough to think I could be in and out in 5 minutes for drop offs. Well, once you disperse everything into its rightful place and you deal with the emotional side of not wanting to leave your baby behind I'm looking at something closer to 30 minutes - I'll have to work on that one!
